| Abstract | Considerando o Pantanal como um dos principais ecossistemas brasileiros, é fundamental a compreensão da magnitude das respostas fenológicas às variações climáticas, especialmente quando se trata do balanço de carbono no ecossistema. Neste contexto, o presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o comportamento sazonal da Produtividade Primária Bruta (PPB) em quatro formações vegetacionais na região do Pantanal. Para isso, foi utilizada uma série temporal de seis anos de imagens do sensor MODIS, correspondente a PPB, na qual foi aplicada a técnica Transformada Wavelet visando identificar a escala temporal de variação da produtividade primária e a magnitude de resposta das formações vegetacionais em relação à sazonalidade climática. As formações pioneira e gramíneo-lenhosa apresentaram melhor desempenho produtivo mediante a sazonalidade climática em relação às formações savana estépica e pastagem. Os resultados evidenciaram maior vulnerabilidade destas formações vegetacionais mediante alterações no regime pluviométrico da região. Programas de conservação ambiental podem aproveitar os resultados obtidos neste trabalho como subsídio para tomadas de decisão. Além disso, tais resultados sinalizam a necessidade de aprofundamento na compreensão de como a resposta fenológica desse ecossistema pode afetar quantitativamente o balanço regional de carbono. ABSTRACT: Considering the Pantanal like one of the main Brazilian ecosystems, is fundamental to understanding the magnitude of phenological responses to climate variations, especially when it comes to carbon balance in the ecosystem. In this context, the present study had as objective evaluate the seasonal behavior of the Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) in four vegetation formations in the Pantanal region. For this, there were used six years of images of the sensor MODIS, corresponding to GPP, in which the Wavelet Transform technique was applied to identify the temporal scale of the GPP variations and the magnitude of the vegetation responses regarding to the climatic seasonality. The pioneer formations and woody-grassy presented better productivity by the climatic seasonality regarding to the savanna estepic and pasture formations. The results showed larger vulnerability of these vegetation formations by alterations in the rainfall. in the region. Environmental Conservation Programs can take advantage of this study as support for decision making. Furthermore, these results signal the need for more understanding of how the phonological responses of this ecosystem can affect quantitatively the regional carbon balance. |
